October 29, 2012: Reminder about Halloween in Harrisonburg: The City of Harrisonburg does not determine, enforce or coordinate a Trick-or-Treat time. A few events took place the weekend before Halloween. The Halloween Monster Mash at the Valley Mall was postponed to Thursday, November 1.

Reminder from the Harrisonburg Fire Department:

If you lose power:

• Remember to charge cell phones before the storm hits.
• Using a flashlight is safer than using a candle for lighting.
• Place generators far enough away that Carbon Monoxide won't enter the home.
• If you still have a home phone, use one that does not require electricity so that you will still have phone service even if you lose power.
