The City of Harrisonburg is committed to adding bicycle and pedestrian facilities to new projects and to identifying opportunities to improve the bicycle and pedestrian network within the city.
**APPLICATIONS FOR BICYCLE & PEDESTRIAN SUBCOMMITTEE NOW OPEN**
Duties of the Bicycle & Pedestrian Subcommittee are:
- To advise city staff and the Transportation Safety & Advisory Committee on bicycle and pedestrian related matters,
- To assist in implementation and achieving the goals of the City Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan,
- Work with the city to achieve safe bicycle and pedestrian connectivity for all citizens, and
- To serve as the body through which the update of the City Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan takes place (approximately every five years as the Comprehensive Plan is updated).
Applications for Bicycle & Pedestrian Subcommittee membership are being reviewed now. Please submit your application to Thanh Dang, Public Works Planner, thanhd(at)harrisonburgva.gov or 320 East Mosby Road, Harrisonburg, VA 22801 by August 25, 2010 to be considered for initial review. Applications may be submitted after August 25 at anytime for consideration when a seat becomes vacant.
