2009 Virginia Income Tax Returns Due May 3
All Virginia Income Tax returns must be filed or postmarked by May 3, 2009 to avoid possible penalties. If you are expecting a refund, you will receive the refund much faster if you file your return directly with the Commissioner of the Revenue, as opposed to sending it directly to Richmond. Also, the Commissioner of the Revenue offers tax preparation to all City of Harrisonburg residents free of charge. You will need to bring in a completed Federal Tax Return and all W-2s/1009s. You can also I-File for free on the Department of Taxation website by going to www.tax.virginia.gov and clicking on I-File.
