Recently Google announced a nation-wide request for information from communities to create an ultra-high speed fiber optic network.
Increasingly, the Harrisonburg area has become home to businesses in the technology sector. While this project would certainly allow for a new foundation for the next generation of tech business, it would also provide our citizens with the opportunity to use a network 100 times faster than what is currently available. This opportunity can benefit the Shenandoah Valley far beyond the borders of Harrisonburg.

On March 26, 2010, the City of Harrisonburg submitted their application to become a part of this opportunity. The video below (
produced by local company Digico) was submitted with the official City of Harrisonburg Google RFI response.
This site will be updated as the City receives information as to which communities Google has chosen for this experiment. In the meantime, Google announced on their blog the next steps they are taking in the selection process. To read more follow this link:
