Sidewalks and Curbs

The Public Works Department maintains 42.37 miles of public sidewalk and 250 miles of curb and gutter. The department is responsible for all sidewalks parallel to the street, which are located on the street right-of-way. A sidewalk maintenance program is currently in effect. The crews evaluate the sidewalk and curb and gutter annually. We begin repairing the most needed areas first and work our way through the schedule as weather and funding permits. Sidewalk maintenance does not include snow/ice removal; adjacent property owners have this responsibility.  Driveway entrances are the sole responsibility of the property owner.  Any repairs or improvements will be at the owner's expense.  Also, property owners are responsible for removal of any obstructions in accordance with the city ordinance. Example: over-hanging limbs or shrubbery blocking the sidewalk.

Below is one example of the work done in the city on curb and gutter and sidewalks.
