Real Estate Information System FAQs
Please close window or tab when done
Q: I found missing or inaccurate information. How can I get it fixed?
A: Please use the Error Reporting Form to report faulty or inaccurate information in this system. Please be both complete and considerate when filling out the form.

Q: Where can I find info on “Resident” and “Commercial” properties?
A: Info in the old system labeled “Resident” and “Commercial” have been combined in the new system under the tab “Buildings.” Here the property will be marked at the top as Residential or Commercial.

Q: How can I get information on properties for an entire street?
A: Enter the street name only when searching, leaving out the house number.

Q: How can I find info on recent sales?
A: This info is located in the “Neighborhood” tab.

Q: I can’t find my property. What am I doing wrong?
A: We have upgraded the search feature and improved it considerably from previous versions to more accurately accommodate variations in address formats. However, you still may run into situations when the search feature cannot find your address. When searching, you may need to try a variety of formats for the desired address. For example, if the address 32 W Market St does not work, try spelling out West, or Street, or simply try 32 Market, leaving out W and St. If you continue to experience trouble with the system, please contact the City of Harrisonburg IT Department at 540-432-7706 and clearly state that you need assistance with the “Property Information System.”

Q: I just want to speak to a real person. Who can I contact with my Real Estate related questions?
A: The phone number to contact someone in the Real Estate office is 540-432-7795. You can also visit their Contact Us page.
