HPD's Community Advisory Committee (CAC) was formally established in June of 1993 by retired Chief of Police Donald Harper.  The individuals on the committee represent a cross section of our citizens and business owners in our community. The current committee has 17 members that volunteer their time to meet once a month to discuss any concerns. Megan Austin is the current president of the committee.

Vision Statement:
We envision a safe community built on trust and understanding between the citizens of Harrisonburg and the Harrisonburg Police Department.  We recognize the effective delivery of public safety services requires the police and citizens to partner together to ensure the safety of all its residents and those visiting our community.

Mission Statement:
The purpose of the Community Advisory Committee is to act in an advisory capacity to the Harrisonburg Police Department by bringing feedback from the community concerning public safety issues. We are devoted to the exchange of ideas and strive to be the voice to improve the quality of life for the citizenry.

The committee is currently full so no applications are being accepted, check our Facebook site for notifications when openings are available.
