Rockingham County Landfill
The Rockingham County Landfill lies on approximately 227 acres on Greendale Rd/VA Route 711. The site is partially in Rockingham County (144 acres) and partially in Harrisonburg City (83 acres). The site presently contains an active landfill area, a closed landfill area, an operations area, a composting area, and a recycling drop off area.
The landfill receives waste from Rockingham County and the City of Harrisonburg totaling approximately 130,000 tons per year.
Harrisonburg City residents may take trash and discarded materials to the Rockingham County Landfill for disposal.
