  • Funding: ~$16,000 from the Virginia Department of Conservation & Recreation Water Quality Improvement Fund and in-kind contributions from the City of Harrisonburg and volunteers.
  • Volunteers: Blacks Run Clean Up Day volunteers, Park View Mennonite Church, Massanutten Regional Governors School interns.

This stream bank planting project occurred at Liberty Park, and the West side of Blacks Run at Lineweaver Apartments. Both areas contain large parking lots whose stormwater drains to Blacks Run. Stream impacts have been reduced and stream health improved by increasing and improving the vegetative buffer between the parking lot and the stream.
