We all contribute to the pollutants that enter our local waterways. With the ongoing Stormwater Utility Fee and Credit Program, citizens are now also a part of the solution.  Join in the effort to build a plan to improve water quality in the City of Harrisonburg.

On March 22, 2017, the Stormwater Advisory Committee and city staff will host an open-house meeting from 5:00-7:00pm at the Community Activities Center (Classroom #3) where citizens are invited to learn about the ongoing development of the City’s Stormwater Improvement Plan (SWIP). The SWIP will outline how your stormwater utility fee funds will be invested on projects to filter, control, and treat polluted runoff before it reaches local waterways and the Chesapeake Bay. Citizens are encouraged to attend this open-house meeting at any time between 5:00-7:00pm to review and offer feedback about water quality and drainage concerns that staff has identified throughout the city up to this point. No formal presentation will be provided as a part of this event.

A public comment period will be open from March 22 through April 5, 2017.  Information shared at the open house will also be posted at https://www.harrisonburgva.gov/stormwater-improvement-plan following the March 22 meeting, and be displayed in the lobby of City Hall through April 5th. A public discussion has also been posted to www.BeHeardHarrisonburg.org where citizens can comment and provide ideas related to this project.
