  • Virginia's Sales Tax Holiday is August 7-9!

    During the sales tax holiday period, consumers can purchase qualifying school supplies, clothing, footwear, hurricane and emergency preparedness items, and Energy Star and WaterSense products without paying sales tax.

  • Volunteers Needed for the 2015 Bicycle and Pedestrian Count

    Volunteer with us to conduct a bicycle and pedestrian count at over 20 locations in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County!

  • Sign Up for Parks and Recreation Programs!

    Sign up for classes with Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation online, by mail, in person, or over the phone. Registration for August to November 2015 programs begins the week of Monday, August 3.

  • New "All in One" City Trash and Recycling Program

    Starting on Monday, August 3rd, those who currently receive the city’s curbside refuse and recycling collection services will have an easier way to get rid of their household waste and recycling. Single Stream Collection, also called the “all in one” system, will accept waste and recyclables in the same container!

  • New City Hall Project Updates

    The City of Harrisonburg is in the process of constructing a new City Hall Facility. Follow the construction updates on the city website!

  • This event held at Westover Park is geared toward being an introduction to triathlons. The focus of this event is completion over competition. All finishers receive a finisher medal. This event is open to ages 5-17.

  • City Council meets at 7:00pm every second and fourth Tuesday of the month in Council Chambers (409 South Main Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22801). Meetings are open to the public.
