City of Harrisonburg offices will be closed Wednesday, January 1, 2020 in observance of the New Year's holiday. City offices will reopen Thursday, January 2 at 8:00am.

Bulk/Yard Debris for Wednesday, January 1st should be held until the next collection date of January 15, or residents can take these materials to the Recycling Convenience Center during operating hours.

The Recycling Convenience Center and Mobile Unit will be closed Wednesday, January 1.


Bus service: There will be no bus service on New Year's Day (January 1).

Starting at 5:30pm, Main St (from Franklin to Water street) and Warren Street will be closed to vehicular traffic.

Motorists are reminded to use caution and drive slow in the area of downtown due to the increase in pedestrian traffic for the event.
