The City of Harrisonburg collects fees for certain permitting, engineering, land use and zoning applications. Fees may be paid via cash, check or money order to City of Harrisonburg. Fee payments my be made in person or via postal mail at:

- Building and Trades Permit Fees
Building permit fees are assessed based on the value of the work and other factors. For most permits, the fee is $60 for the first $2,000 in value of the work, plus $6.00 for each additional $1,000 or fraction thereof. Additional fees may apply for gas service, plumbing fixtures, etc. A nonrefundable state levy fee of 2% is added to each permit. Building permit fees are governed by City Code Section 11-1-11.
