The Combined Harrisonburg and Rockingham Gang Enforcement Unit is a multi-jurisdictional task force comprised of members from the Harrisonburg Police Department and the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.
The Criminal Investigations Division is comprised of the Major Crimes Unit, RUSH Drug Task Force, CHARGE Gang Task Force, Forensic Unit, Violence Against Women Task Force and Internet Crimes Against Children.
The Special Operations Division encompasses varying duties, including K9, traffic, criminal enforcement, public event safety, victim services, and community resources.
The RUSH Task Force identifies, targets, investigates, and prosecutes those individuals and organizations that distribute and or manufacture quantities of narcotics in the Harrisonburg and Rockingham County area.
Cold Cases fall under the responsibility of investigators in the Major Crimes Unit, Criminal Investigations Division at Harrisonburg Police Department. Investigators are responsible for investigating unsolved homicides and crimes involving missing persons in Harrisonburg City.
The City of Harrisonburg Animal Care and Control Unit is responsible for enforcing the Virginia Comprehensive Animal Laws, as well as the local ordinances relating to domestic animals.
