HPD's Community Advisory Committee (CAC) was formally established in June of 1993 by retired Chief of Police Donald Harper. The purpose of the Community Advisory Committee is to act in an advisory capacity to the Harrisonburg Police Department by bringing feedback from the community concerning public safety issues.
With an emphasis on collaboration, legitimacy and transparency, the Harrisonburg Police Department incorporates Restorative Justice (RJ) into policing.
