Proposed Constitutional Amendment for April 21st, 2026, Special Election
On Tuesday, April 21, polls are open from 6:00am to 7:00pm.

Proposed Constitutional Amendment
Question: Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia's standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?

Curbside Voting is available at all voting precincts on Election Day and during Early Voting.
Important Dates:
The Voter Registration Deadline for the Special Election: Tuesday, April 14th, 2026.
- At Registrar's Office - 5:00pm Check operating hours for DMV or other state designated voter registration agencies authorized to receive voter registration applications.
- By mail - Postmarked by April 14th, 2026.
- Online Registration via Virginia Department of Elections website - 11:59pm. Applications that are required to be printed and delivered to the registrar should be treated as regular mailed in applications (postmarked by April 14th, 2026.). The April 14th, 5:00pm deadline would apply if they are submitted in-person at the Registrar's Office.
Early Voting starts: Friday, March 6th, 2026
Early Voting continues: March 6th – April 18th Monday through Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm (closed on April 3rd, 2026) and on Saturday, April 11th 9:00am-5:00pm/ Saturday, April 18th 9:00am-5:00pm.
Early voting takes place in the Harrisonburg City Hall Atrium, 409 South Main Street.
The last day for Early Voting: Saturday, April 18th, 2026
Requested absentee ballots for the April 21st Special Election will start to go out by March 5th 2026.
The last day to request a ballot by mail is Friday, April 10th, 2026, at 5:00pm.
The last day for mailed ballots to be received by mail is Friday, April 24th (if they are postmarked by April 21st, 2026) *
The last day for mailed ballots to be dropped off in person is Tuesday, April 21st, 2026 **
*The Ballot can also be returned in person at the Registrar's office but only by the voter, or to your polling location on Election Day.
**Ballots must be returned to the locality from which they were mailed out.
On Election Day our polling locations will post updates on turnout at 7am, 9am, 12pm 3pm, and 6pm.
