Start Smart SoccerStart Smart Soccer

Start Smart Soccer is a developmentally appropriate introductory soccer program for children 3-4 years old. The program prepares children for organized soccer in a fun, non-threatening environment. Start Smart Soccer prepares children and their parents for organized soccer without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. The program prepares children for organized tee ball, baseball and softball in a fun, non-threatening environment. Start Smart Baseball prepares children and their parents for organized baseball and softball without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Age appropriate equipment is used in teaching throwing, catching, batting, running and agility.

The program prepares children for organized tennis in a fun, non-threatening environment.  Start Smart Tennis prepares children and their parents for organized tennis without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Age appropriate equipment is used in teaching ground strokes, serving, volleying and running/agility.

 

 

SS GolfStart Smart Golf

Registration is open for Spring and Summer Sessions.  Open to ages 5-7.   

The City Resident rate will be $45, while the Non-Resident rate will be $50.  Limit of 8 participants per session.  Register by visiting the Heritage Oaks Pro Shop or by calling 540-442-6502.  You may also email David.Johns@harrisonburgva.gov for more information. 

Start Smart Golf is a developmentally appropriate introductory parent/guardian-child based golf program. Pairs work together to develop individual skills.  The program prepares children for organized golf in a fun, non-threatening environment. Start Smart Golf prepares children and their parents for organized golf without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Age appropriate equipment is used in teaching full swing, chipping, pitching and putting.

The Start Smart Sports Development Program was the first developed by the National Alliance for Youth Sports. The skills are not specific to any one particular sport. Skills learned and developed in this program will benefit the participants in a variety of sports. The popularity of this program led to the development of the sport-specific programs now offered. The is a developmentally appropriate introductory sports program for children 3-5 years old. The program prepares children and their parents for organized sports in a fun, non-threatening environment. Age appropriate equipment from is utilized in the program. Sports skills developed in this program are: throwing, catching, batting and kicking.
