What is graffiti?
There are two different forms of graffiti. The first kind is more commonly called tagger graffiti and rarely has anything to do with gangs. It is painted by individuals as a way for artists to express themselves.
The second type of graffiti is known as gang graffiti and it is used as a way of spreading gang information, to identify gang turf and as a method of threatening other gangs or specific people. Gang graffiti is a way for gangs to express themselves and further their violent culture.
Why should graffiti be removed?
Graffiti promotes violence in the community and in turn endangers the safety of the citizens. It also decreases home and business values and if not promptly removed it will become normal behavior in society.
