June 24, 2017
The Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation will join thousands of families across the nation gathering in their backyards, neighborhoods, communities, and parks on June 24, 2017 to enjoy a simple night of camping for the 13th Annual Great American Campout, presented by National Wildlife Federation.
Great American Campout is a part of National Wildlife Federation’s 10 Million Kids Outdoors Campaign. This three-year initiative seeks a future in which all children spend time outside each day, creating a generation of happier and healthier children with more awareness and connection to the natural world. National Wildlife Federation has worked to connect children and youth with nature for decades, inspiring children through Ranger Rick magazine, working with educators to get kids learning outdoors, and helping parents find new ways to engage their children outside.
We will be holding our local campout at Hillandale Park. Advance registration is required as we have a limit of 50 tents for this year's event. To register please call Erik Dart at 540-433-9168 or email Erik.Dart@harrisonburgva.gov.
