$47,569 per year as a Police Officer I.
$55,328 per year when the rank of Police Officer II is earned after all training is completed. *Certified Officers who transfer their employment to the Harrisonburg Police Department may receive additional compensation for prior years of service and certifications. Transferring officer salaries are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
The Career Development Plan allows officers to earn merit based rewards to increase their salary over time based on outstanding effort throughout the trajectory of their career.
Promotional opportunities within HPD allow the officer to advance a career path of supervision in turn increasing their salary.
