The Virginia June Dual Primary is on Tuesday, June 18th, 2024. The polls are open from 6:00am to 7:00pm on the day of the primary.

The Republican party has called for a primary election to nominate candidates for U.S. Senate and the Democratic party has called for a primary election to nominate candidates for Harrisonburg City Council.

Voters must choose which party primary they wish to participate in. Per state code § 24.2-530, no one is allowed to vote in both parties primary, if they fall on the same date. 
 
HandicappedCurbside Voting is available at all voting precincts on Election Day and City Hall during early voting. Call 540-432-7707 when you arrive. 
 
Important Dates:

The Voter Registration Deadline for the June Presidential Primary: Tuesday, May 28th, 2024.

  • At Registrar's Office - 5:00pm  *Check operating hours for DMV or other state designated voter registration agencies authorized to receive voter registration applications.
  • By mail - Postmarked by May 28th, 2024.
  • Online Registration via Virginia Department of Elections website - 11:59pm  *Applications that are required to be printed and delivered to the registrar should be treated as regular mailed in applications (postmarked by May 28th, 2024). The Tuesday May 28th, 5:00pm deadline would apply if they are submitted in-person at the Registrar's Office. 

In Person Absentee Voting Starts (Early Voting): Friday, May 3rd, 2024

In Person Absentee Voting: May 3rd – June 15th: Monday through Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm and on Saturday, June 8th and June 15th from 9:00am until 5:00pm (*City Hall is closed on Monday, May 27th for Memorial Day) 

The last day to vote in person Absentee (Early Voting): Saturday, June 15th, 2024

Requested absentee ballots for the June primary will go out by May 2nd.
The last day to request a ballot by mail is Friday, June 7th, 2024 at 5:00pm.
The last day for absentee ballots to be returned by mail for the June Primary: Friday, June 21st, 2024 at 12:00pm (they must be postmarked byJune 18th, 2024 ) 

Ballots can also be returned in person at the Registrar's office but only by the voter, or to your polling location on Election Day.
Ballots must be returned to the locality from which they were mailed out.
